Trojan Horse
The idea of the Trojan horse was the idea of Odysseus, (the Greek king of Ithaca) to end the Trojan War. What the Greeks did is they built a large house with a hollow in side so almost a hundred men including Odysseus, could fit inside. The rest of the Greeks boarded their ships and sailed back to Greece to make it look like they had surrendered and left the horse as a gift. As the Trojans celebrated with alcohol they fell for the trap and brought the ship inside the city. When the city had fallen asleep the hundred Greeks left the horse and destroyed the city. The Greeks did this because they realized that neither side could win the war.
In many ways the Spartans and Athenians had their own form government that they thought worked best for their city-state.
Athens and Sparta had two very different types of governments. The Athens government was a direct democracy. The Spartan government was an oligarchy, but it had characteristics of a monarchy because they were ruled by a king, and they some forms of democracy because they elected the council men. In Athens everyone was allowed to attend the assemblies, not just the politicians. The two had different governments because they thought that it would be the best for their own society.
Athenians and Spartans both had different thoughts as to who (in the government) lead the city. Spartans had two kings ruling the city. Both of the kings were the generals of the army as well. In Athens they had ten men that lead the city. The Spartan people elected men into their senate. Those men consisted of generals, magistrates, and other men over sixty and in high ranked positions or rich ones that had land. The Spartan kings also had some religious responsibilities as the king. Both of these cities felt like there society should be lead like this because of the different life styles that people lived in the two cities.
The Spartans and Athenians had different ways of making decisions. The Athenians thought that there should an assembly that was open to all citizens and the people were free to voice their opinions. These meeting would be where they pass laws and make and policy decisions. The Spartan kings assembled the people and told them their new laws and decry that they made. The Spartans did this because there was much more control and dictatorship in Sparta and Athens has more freedom.

The Greeks exiled their general that led them to their victory and against the Persians because they feared him and thought that he had too much power and was going to turn on the of the Greeks.
These sites both have good info on Themistocles. The Wikipedia site might have more info. Wikipedia had more information on the early days of Themistocles' life and the battlesthat he won. The Wikipedia page info may be more organized and easier to understand then the other. The Tertullian pages also more information that doesn’t have to do with Themistocles. However it does cover info on my topic so it makes it a good choice to use for the paragraph. Both of these websites are good because they give me the info that I need.
